Lecture V: HTML Basics (continued)

  ASSIGNMENT

Read Chapter 13-15 of the Niederst Text

Create a small Website consisting of two Web pages only:

1. The opening page will contain text in a table with a hyperlink to a second page
2. The second page will contain an image.

The image you will use will be an image that you draw on white paper with black ink and scan onto your computer's hard disk or a portable disk that you may read from your computer. CREATE A NEW SKETCH FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT!

You should scan the image at 72dpi and save it in JPEG file format if possible. If your scanning software will not let you save it as a JPEG file, that's okay, simply choose another file format, (such as TIFF) and you will be able to change the file format to JPEG once you open the file in Photoshop.

Open the image in Photoshop and add some color using the basic process we outlined in the lecture.

Be creative with the formatting of the HTML document. Use background colors, table cell beackground colors, font formatting, etc. that makes a good layout and complements your image and integrates the image into the Web page. Also, coordinate the formatting of the two pages in this mini site. You should now start thinking about layout and design concerns for the pages you create.

After creating the small Website upload all the files to your server directory. Check the URL (Web address) on the Web to make certain the page is displayed correctly. Then submit the URL to me via email: my email address is gsmith@ksi.edu. If you have any questions or any problems, please email me.
