CIS341 UNIX Operating System
Course Abstract UNIX, including its open-source version Linux, is a powerful multiuser, multitasking operating system that has become an industry standard. UNIX provides virtual memory and network support, graphical user interface support, a productive software development environment and a rapidly expanding set of end-user applications. This course is an in-depth study of the UNIX operating system. In this course, shell programs and commands of UNIX are analyzed, so that the student will gain insight into the inner workings of a modern operating system. Topics covered include: Files, directories and devices; shell programming and aliases; pipelines and filters; user services and utilities; administration for users; remote access tools.
Prerequisite CIS321 Computer Languages (Introduction to C++)
